    I. Contrasting morals between the righteous and the wicked. (vv ) a. The righteous are blessed because they avoid: 1. Walking the counsel of the wicked 2. Standing in the way of sinners 3. Sitting in the seat of scoffers b. The righteous are blessed because they: 1. Delight in God’s word. They have affection and passion for God’s word. 2. In the first place we would emphasise the biblical fact that blessedness, or in other words, true happiness, belongs to the righteous and to them only. It cannot possibly be the lot of the wicked, for to them, as Isaiah stresses time and again, there is no peace (; 57 21); and peace with God (Romans ) accompanied by the peace of God.

Today we are considering the topic, “The blessedness of the blessed.” Our text is taken from the book of Psalm chapter one. One interesting thing in the study of the book of Psalm is that the psalmist analyzes two ways –the ways of the righteous and the ways of the wicked. Then he tells the better way to live. Blessings of the Righteous - Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments! His descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house; and his righteousness endures for ever. Light rises in the darkness for the upright; the LORD is gracious, merciful, and righteous. It is well.

Judgement of the Kings and the Mighty: Blessedness of the Righteous. CHAPTER LXII. 1. And thus the Lord commanded the kings and the mighty and the exalted, and those who dwell on the earth, and said: ‘Open your eyes and lift up your horns if ye are able to recognize the Elect One.
